Steeger St. Jost

In the area of St. Jost, clay and slate is predominate in the earth. A pastel-colored layer of shifting sand is found in the soil due to the volcanic eruptions of the Neuwieder Basin more than 10,000 years ago. For this reason the St. Jost area is very suitable for producing high quality Riesling dry wines. These wines boast a delicate fruity taste with an infatuating mellow bloom.

Bacharacher Posten

The soil of the Bacharacher Posten area boasts crystalline slate that has the ability to warm easily. This type of slate lends a unique and special character to the wines. Wine connoisseurs recognize this as a highly distinct terrior.

Bacharacher Wolfshöhle

The Bacharacher Wolfshöhle is part of the larger region called the Middle Rhine. An alternating soil structure from clay slate to crystalline slate produce remarkable wines with a distinct fruity palate. Our vineyards in the Wolfshöhle region produce our best Spätlese.

Bacharacher Kloster Fürstental

The soil in the area of the Fürstental monastery contains different types of slate with a higher loam percentage. Grasses and vegetation allowed to flourish between the large spreading vines provide good natural ventilation and produce perfect healthy grapes. These factors are important prerequisites for the production of high quality champagne.
